How to find sponsors for YouTube in 2026: the data-backed way
A five-step method for finding YouTube sponsors in 2026, built on 562K sponsored videos: know your odds, find the right brands, verify, pitch, time it.
By DiscoverSponsors · 6 min read
Most advice on finding YouTube sponsors is a list of platforms and a template email. This guide is different: it starts from what 562K sponsored videos across 55K channels show about who gets sponsored, by whom, and when, and turns that into five steps you can do this week. The data comes from public video descriptions and paid-promotion disclosures read through the official YouTube Data API, as of September 2026.
Step 1: Know your odds before you pitch
The share of channels with at least one sponsor rises fast between 10K and 50K subscribers, then flattens:
| Subscribers | Share of channels in our index with a sponsor | Typical sponsored channel |
|---|---|---|
| 1K–10K | 27.5% | 2 brands, 3 sponsored videos |
| 10K–50K | 53.5% | 2 brands, 3 sponsored videos |
| 50K–100K | 63.9% | 2 brands, 4 sponsored videos |
| 100K–500K | 70.6% | 3 brands, 5 sponsored videos |
| 500K–1M | 74.9% | 4 brands, 6 sponsored videos |
Two conclusions. If you are past 10K, roughly half of comparable channels have a sponsor, so you are not early. And nobody at these sizes has dozens of sponsors: a realistic first year is one or two brands and a repeat deal. The full breakdown, including why channels above 1M are sponsored slightly less often, is in our sponsorship-rate analysis.
Your niche matters as much as your size. Photography, crypto, music and software channels are sponsored about twice as often as cooking, pets and crafts channels; see which niches get sponsored most.
Step 2: Find brands that already sponsor channels like yours
The single most useful question is not "which brands sponsor YouTubers?" but "which brands sponsored channels of my size, in my niche, recently?" A brand that sponsored a 20K-subscriber channel last month has a budget for channels like yours and a team that says yes to them.
Three ways to build that list:
- Look at the sponsors of comparable channels. Open five channels in your niche and size band and read the sponsor lines in their recent descriptions ("sponsored by", "use code", "thanks to"). Every brand that appears twice goes on your shortlist.
- Rank brands by breadth, not volume. A brand that ran hundreds of videos with three huge channels is not open to you; a brand that sponsored 200 different small channels is. Our list of the 25 brands that sponsor the most small YouTube channels is ranked exactly this way, and every brand on it has sponsored a channel under 6K subscribers.
- Use the per-niche and per-country pages. Sponsor categories list the brands sponsoring each niche with the videos as evidence, and the leaderboards rank the top sponsors and creators for the five biggest markets and niches.
If you add your channel, the matching does this for you: sponsors ranked by how often they backed creators of your size, language and niche, each with the sponsored videos as proof.
Step 3: Check what kind of deal it actually was
Not every brand mention is a paid integration. Before you pitch, open two or three of the brand's sponsored videos and check:
- Was it a dedicated integration (a 30–90 second segment, a "this video is sponsored by" line) or an affiliate link in the description? Affiliate arrangements pay per sale and are much easier to get, but they are a different conversation.
- Does the brand work with channels your size, or only with channels ten times larger? The smallest channel a brand has sponsored is the honest signal of its floor.
- Is the brand still active? A brand whose last sponsored video is from a year ago may have cut the program. The month-by-month curve and the sponsors ramping up right now show who is buying today.
Step 4: Pitch the video, not the channel
Brands buy placements in videos, so the pitch that works describes a specific video: what it is about, who watches it, where the product fits naturally, and what you will show. Three things to include:
- Your real numbers: subscribers, typical views on comparable videos, audience countries and age bands from YouTube Studio. Averages beat peaks; brands check.
- The integration: which part of the video, how long, what you will demonstrate, and what you will not promise. An honest brief is more persuasive than an enthusiastic one.
- The evidence that you fit: the brand has sponsored channels like yours (name one), and your audience matches its buyers.
Send it to the partnerships or creator contact, not a generic inbox, and follow up once after a week. Then keep the shortlist warm: the brands that said no in March are the ones to pitch again when their program grows.
Step 5: Time it
Sponsored videos in our index jumped from December to January and peaked in June. New-year budgets land in the first weeks of January; spring campaigns build from March. Pitch in early December and again in February, and pitch the brands whose creator rosters are growing rather than the ones every list already names.
What about sponsorship platforms and marketplaces?
They are one channel among several, useful for a first deal and for building a track record, and weakest for channels under 10K where direct outreach does most of the work. We compare the options in the best YouTube sponsorship sites and platforms in 2026.

About the data
Every figure here comes from public video information retrieved through the official YouTube Data API. A video counts as sponsored when its description or paid-promotion disclosure names the brand that paid for the integration; the window is videos published from July 2025 to September 2026. Channels with sponsors are easier to discover than channels without, so the percentages are upper bounds; the ranking and the shape of the curves are the findings. A detected sponsorship is not confirmation of contract terms or of a brand's willingness to sponsor your channel.
